4 Ways to Overcome Your Fear of Capturing Video for Your Business

4 Ways to Overcome Your Fear of Capturing Video for Your Business

Here are a few points on the importance of video in marketing from HubSpot, a lead marketing, sales, and CRM software with big pockets for research.

  • 50 Million people on Facebook watch video every day.
  • Marketers feel more positive about the return on investment offered by video than ever, as it continues to strongly influence traffic, leads, sales, and audience understanding.
  • Consumers continue to use video as an integral part of their journey with brands, and are excited to see even more video content in the year ahead.

You get the point. The bottom line is, use of video in marketing is proving to be POWERFUL

5 Reasons to Incorporate Video Into Your Marketing Strategy

  1. "Pay to Play" - Facebook and Instagram - two platforms most of my clients leverage heavily for marketing - are increasingly moving toward a pay-to-play platform. This means if you want to increase your reach, the algorithms are set up in such a way that you have to pay for ads to reach a fresh audience. If you've been wondering why your Facebook or Instagram growth seems to be stalled, that's why. Facebook and Instagram are revenue-generating businesses and that's their prerogative (and all the more reason to drive traffic to a presence you own, like your website or email list). To be effective, we must lean into new methods of marketing.

  2. Video is easy to repurpose across many channels - use it in social media posts, on your website, in email marketing, and in your Google My Business listing. You don't need to opt into video-centric social platforms like Snapchat or Tik Tok in order to reap the benefits, though you could if that's where your target market spends time online.

  3. Video doesn't need to be captured professionally to be effective. In fact, stats show that people prefer to see the raw, real version of the people behind the brand. You may be thinking "Fresh outta bed, sleep mask still attached to my head - kind of rawness?" - Eh..that's iffy. More like.... "Hey it's a t-shirt, no makeup kinda day-rawness".

  4. Google owns YouTube. Since Google owns the large majority of search market share, and since Google LOVES when their products are leveraged online, your content is likely to land in the hands (yes, hands - most people view content on a mobile device) of people already searching for your product or service.

  5. Video establishes relationships we would otherwise have to be in person to foster. Video allows people to connect with your facial expressions, tone of voice, and mannerisms in a way that text alone simply cannot.

Marketing trends will change

There's no doubt about it. Like everything else, this trend will change at some point. But pay attention to this: in marketing, adaptation is the name of the game. Here are 25 ways to market your business aside from social media.

Companies that can adapt and leverage the types of content customers crave most will be most effective in reaching their target market and delivering a well-received message.

Overcome your fear of getting in front of the camera

Tough love, friend. Get past it. Here's what I tell my clients: Your customers are craving to see the humans on the other side of the brands they're spending money with.

At the core of all marketing initiatives, we must remember that we're people dealing with people who crave interaction with people.

My hands shook and my voice trembled the first time I went live, I'm sure of it. After getting in front of the camera my fair share over the last 8 months, here are four suggestions:

  1. Outline what you want to talk about first - your message will flow more smoothly. Make it actionable - tell people why they should continue watching from the very beginning.
  2. Make it actionable - tell people why they should continue watching from the very beginning.
  3. Strategize - have a strategy for repurposing your content so that you can maximize your efforts - plan keywords, decide which platforms you'll post on, and develop topics based on what your target audiences cares most about. I've said it before and I'll say it again, repurposing is crucial to your sanity.
  4. Just do it - it's only scary the first 1-2 times. After that, you're golden.
