Jessica's Bio + Street Cred

After high school I fell into administrative work, and I LOVED it. I never ended up wanting anything else because I loved working with computers, getting the business organized and finding ways to learn new skills. I eventually ended up going to college for a while and doing other trainings but I always wanted to go back into administrative work.

I love to organize (and color code), use automations to make things more efficient, learn new technologies and programs, plus I am a life long student. Finding out that a Virtual Assistant was an industry was a blessing and a very easy transition with my skill set.

Quick Q&A with Jessica Ryan, Virtual Assistant and Notion Consultant

In 2 minutes, tell us how you became an entrepreneur.

I started my entrepreneurial journey because I was handed lemons and I made lemonade. I got a layoff I never saw coming, but I knew I had more to give. I knew about 'digital nomads' and envisioned myself working for myself. After 14+ years working for others I decided I wanted a change and became obsessed about all the possibilities I then saw.

What do you do and who do you do it for?

I'm a Virtual Assistant + Notion Consultant. I support introverted solopreneurs through overcoming the overwhelm of their overwhelming todo list, whether it's creating systems for managing email, creating social media graphics or consulting on how to make a functional Notion workspace.

Have you found work that sets your soul on fire?

OMG Yes. It's been a journey to get there because I love so many things.

I love all things productivity, organizing, automation and Notion.

I can support my clients in getting their backend organized and in sync with how they work so they can show up as their best and efficient self any day of the week.

What's the best business advice you've received?

If you're talking to everyone, you're talking to no one and that it's okay to be your kind of weird.

What has been your hardest entrepreneurial lesson learned?

That it was going to be harder that I imagined. That I have to push myself out of my comfort zone and that having all these great ideas can't be done all at once.

Ever gotten any bad business advice?

I've get lots of advice that doesn't work for me as an introvert. It's not bad, just not how I would do things.

What's your scariest/wildest/most exhilarating moment in your journey so far?

Right now! I am launching my first 1/2 day intensive, The Organized Solopreneur Intensive. It's a half-day intensive designed to help you get organized, streamline and automate your business.

When it comes to getting work done, early riser or night owl?

Easily an early bird. I get my best work done by 11am.

What responsibility do you like the least in running your business?

Nothing yet.

What's the secret to your success?

Living, breathing, honing and working from my zone of genius. I know what I rock at doing and when I do have moments of doubt I go back and read all the great comments I've received.

What advice would you give to entrepreneurs just getting started?

Take your time, give yourself grace, don't work so hard you burn out and follow your intuition.

Where can people connect with you?
